EL GRANDE MEETS LUMIA GRANDE

In a bizarre moment of parallel universes colliding, during the middle of El Grande’s build cycle, I received an interesting e-mail from a friend. “Did I know,” she said, “that a group of people were building a solar-powered, Lumia display as an artwork for the 2007 Burning Man Festival?” Hmmmm. checking out their web site (http://lumiagrande.blogspot.com/), I found it rather insane to discover the following:

  • Neither group knew of the other;
  • Both of us where building Lumia displays with the same name affixation;
    (I referred to it as the “War of the Grandes”)
  • Both of us were ex-New Yorkers;
  • And of all things, both of us were going to the Burning Man Festival.
